2. Dyslexia Online Assessment

This is a free online assessment which has been provided by Ron Davis’s Reading Research Council. It is as series of 41 questions that is designed to test some areas that may need further assessment. You might find it valuable but to be honest it seems like more of a checklist of symptoms than a diagnostic test. For example, a question might be “Does the person have any musical or athletic talents” to which the results will tell you that “the person is talented in these areas: music, sports, etc….” which really isn’t too helpful. You may or may not find it helpful, but since it is free, you’re not out anything except for time. It seems more geared around helping diagnosis dyslexia at an early age.  It also appears to be more of a way to get you interested in enrolling in their dyslexia correction program.

3. Dyslexia-Test.com

This site used to provide at home dyslexia tests for children ages 7-16 and adults. Whereas the above tests could be taken in your browser, this test was shipped to your home. I really don’t know much about this test, other than it is no longer available, and the site doesn’t say why. There is a message that says “we regret to say that our testing service is temporarily suspended.” The fees on these tests seemed fairly outrageous, with the child’s test costing $599 with shipping and the adult test costing a whopping $799!  It is interesting that they say that their fees are kept very affordable, when comparing them to rates a specialist would charge. I can’t help but wonder how much a specialist is charging!
